The Art of a Slow Matcha Morning

The Art of a Slow Matcha Morning

There's a version of the morning that doesn't involve rushing. No scrolling before your feet hit the floor, no coffee gulped on the way out the door. Just you, a bowl, and a whisk.

That's the idea behind a matcha morning. It forces a pause — you can't rush whisking. The bamboo moves in slow, deliberate strokes until the powder dissolves into a bright green froth, and somewhere in those thirty seconds, your morning actually starts.

Start with the right bowl. A wide, shallow bowl gives the whisk room to move and helps the matcha aerate properly.

Sift before you whisk. Matcha clumps easily. A quick pass through a fine sieve means fewer lumps and a smoother, silkier drink.

Whisk in a "W," not a circle. Zigzag motions break up the matcha faster and create better foam than stirring in circles.

Give yourself the full five minutes. That's really the whole point. Put the phone in another room. Sit somewhere with light. Let the ritual be the reward, not just the caffeine.

Wear something soft while you do it — that's what the oversized tees are for.
